Get Out of the City, Sit Back and Relax

Updated: Dec 20, 2024

Life is so very short. Do beautiful things now and spend time with the ones you love.

Simpler Is Better

Not to have too much of a depressing intro... but trying to get straight to the point. Last summer I was having a woe is me kind of day and as I try most days, I decided to do something about it. I was feeling stuffed up being in the city and I was longing for a slower chance to make some last of summer memories.

Get In The Car And Go

I can't remember if I had seem something online on Instagram (I most likely did) but I had the thought to grab my little family, some snacks and beverage and go watch the sun set from the back of our vehicle. It was incredible! This idea works best if you have an SUV or a truck. If you have an SUV, put the seats down and set up a comfortable mattress with blankets and pillows. If you have a truck, put everything in the box of the vehicle. Head outside of the city and find 'the perfect spot' to watch the sun set. Pop open the back trunk, play some tunes, pour yourself a cold beverage and open those bag of chips and snacks.

*Never consume alcohol in a running vehicle and do not drink and drive. Know your limit, assign a designated driver or arrange for alternate ways home. Stay safe.*

Hazel was having an absolute blast chilling in the vehicle and roaming around in the prairie grass. She is always more content to chill and hang out. After all, she goes where we go! Tip: Bring some treats, snacks and water for your pooch. If they are happy, you will be too.

Make sure you allocate for driving time when getting to your destination. It will certainly chew up time that could be spent admiring the sunset. In the summer and close to fall, we all know how quickly that window can diminish. It was well worth the only 25 minute drive outside of the city and we are glad we packed the ammenities we did. Cozy, comfortable, memorable. Quick but long lasting summer memories don't have to be complicated or expensive. Use what you have.

*Be aware of public vs private property and be attentive to trespassing.*
